Gennaro Contaldo and Staff Jamie Oliver in Le Marche for Truffle Hunting
by Agriturimso Ramuse - Force.
I was young I have always appreciated the sweet breath of the
earth, where the beauty of the countryside in Le Marche helps you escape
from the fast consumer society that we live in today. This understanding
and love of nature is what my grandfather taught me and I want to share
it with you. When I was six years old I did not want to go to school,
because I wanted to remain with my grandfather and help him feed the
cows and the other animals of our small farm. I milked the cows and
I carried the milk to my beloved grandmother so that she could prepare
my breakfast. It sounds something from a storybook now, but was my childhood!
Since then I have always known that I wanted to be involved in the countryside
and its products. In the afternoon after school finished, I went to
help my father in the orchard pruning or collecting apples. On my father's
farm we specialise in the production of old varities of apples such
as the Rosa Sibillini. This old small apple was on the edge of extinction,
it has an intense scent and is very crisp and flavoursome. Over the
years, newer apple varieties have replaced this almost forgotten fruit;
many are more striking but none are as rooted in the local region. As
a result of our commitment and the quality of our apples we presented
this to Slow Food movement in Turin.
Thanks to them our small company has been able to introduce this produce
to the Hall of the taste of Turin and Earth Mother (world meeting of
food communities), and to the best national gastronomic reviews like:
The Italian Kitchen, Sapori& Traditions, Italy Today etc.
In 2006 I enrolled at the University of Macerata where I am studyied “tourism of the territory and rural development”,
I have had the good fortune here to know many important teachers such
as the famous Changes creator Carl of the review The Gambero Rozzo,
writer of many other articles on the Italian gastronomia and touristism
along with professor Cavicchi famous investigator of the agrarian
economy.
Through my good friend Paolo l have visited London, where for many years he used to deliver fresh Marche truffles to many famous top restaurants.
I feel that thanks to my connection with this fantastic earth where I have been born… I can introduce visitors to some unforgettable experiences and memories, as more and more choose to visit our landscapes, where the scenery and beauty of the countryside and the wonderful fascination of the Sibillini Mountains create a magical atmosphere for you to enjoy.
